Beautiful Stay - The view of the area is stunning. The beach is wide with rocky points mixed in between areas of tan sands. We stayed in one of the more basic rooms... read more and the view was beautiful. I think all rooms have an ocean view.
The drive is a dirt road from Los Bariles or El Cardonal and very bumpy when you get past those areas and requires a slow drive but most regular clearance two-wheel drive vehicles won't have any problem getting to the resort. This kind of leaves you isolated at the resort as there are no other restaurants or shopping nearby though we left a couple times to head north and south during our stay and did some shopping. You need to account for the extra drive time for the rough road.
The resort itself is beautiful and immaculate with cobblestone driving surfaces throughout. Our room was large and equipped with much of what we needed for the day though they provided only 4 bottles of water daily and should provide a more for a couple and even more for a family. We asked housekeeping for a couple extra bottles and she delivered! The housekeeper was really great and accommodating to our late wake schedules. The bathroom worked well and had a magnified mirror (important to the wife). The beds were pretty comfortable and the AC worked very well. We were there during off season in the middle of summer and very few people were at this resort so we had a lot of attention. The staff were very nice and quite a few spoke English. I always try to speak some of my very poor Spanish and the efforts are often appreciated whenever we visit Mexico. Check-in/check-out was quick.
The pool is small. The water was warm this time of year so we didn't spend much time there and took ourselves to the beach daily which was beautiful. There are a number of palapas with chairs. I don't believe there's any beach side service though we typically don't want it and we're quite comfortable with our room prepared drinks and protein bars we took to the beach. The water unlike the Pacific side is calm and easy to stand in to enjoy our drinks. Included are kayaks and paddle boards and snorkeling equipment at no additional charge. Because there are many rock formations blended into the Sandy areas there's lots of tide pools to explore.
Restaurant staff was great but the food was just OK. Some dishes we had were very good others not. A couple items were not good at all. There is a small hash brown that comes with the continental breakfast and the oil is cooked and tasted rancid. The food in our opinion is overpriced for the quality. This was easily the biggest drawback for this location as it was not practical to drive to a nearby restaurant because there are none without a slow drive out of the area. We're not food snobs in the slightest so we're not picky and more interested in the macros in the foods we're eating. Also we didn't see a gift shop where you could buy snacks or suntan products, etc.
The included complimentary breakfast is truly continental and has almost zero protein. It included toast, a fruit plate and a small amount of yogurt and granola. I'm not sure if juice comes with a continental breakfast but coffee is. If you're fitness minded or into carb control diets you definitely have to order off the breakfast menu.
Overall this was a wonderful stay and we would definitely return if the food quality and food options improve. The resort is absolutely beautiful, has a rustic feel yet all your modern amenities are there including good wi-fi. It was peaceful and quiet in the offseason and a great romantic setting.
Areas for improvement would include improved quality food ingredients, having an egg option as part of the complimentary breakfast and a gift shop. Also more water in every room.

Restaurant onsite offers nice continental breakfast as well as snacks, lunch & dinner. We saw whales and dolphins swim past daily.
Absolutely Amazing - Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is a hidden gem! A nightmare drive in (dirt track) but then we found out there is another road. Extremely clean and with a private beach, swimming pool and gym this is definitely worth a visit. The water is stunning, the sunrises are epic, there’s games if you desire, the grounds are immaculate and there’s plenty of opportunities to just relax. The food is next level, OMG everything we ate was extraordinary. Meal sizes are large, the menu is extensive (there’s two) and everything was served hot and fresh. The cauliflower is an absolute must, fish tacos are divine and the pastas are amazing. Wish we stayed longer, great value for money too. Will never stop raving about this place to everyone I know.
This is all about raving the restaurant at Pescadora. Don’t miss it! The Grouper Sandwich is a must, perfection! - This is all about the restaurant at the hotel. It is off the charts fantastic. The quality of the food and service is excellent. We loved the new menu. We shared a beet salad - fresh and tasty. Then beef carpaccio, a treat. Then, a new Grouper Sandwich was the main feast and what a treat. The slaw and flavors were spot on and the fish cooked to perfection. Fries were excellent too. Wow. My mouth waters thinking about it.
Not only is the food first rate, wonderful chef, but the management and staff are lovely. Someday, I’m sure we’ll stay there too. But we’ll always have at least one meal there.

Wonderful location to find peace - Dream location, far away from other hotels.

Some of the infrastructure is a bit abandoned such as the tennis court, and prices for extra activities such as fishing or ATVs are very high.
Also note that the road to the hotel is a dirt road - better to have a bigger car.
Great place - So pictures don’t do this place justice. It’s by far the most gorgeous hotel property compared to hotels in Los Barriles. It’s very remote and people free. We don’t like... read more crowds and prefer quiet areas so it was perfect for us.
The beach was just such a huge plus. The snorkeling was very diverse and colorful just feet from shore. The water is cold in February so I recommend a wet suit for sure! They have complimentary kayaks and SUP boards there too. We fished every day from the kayaks and saw A pod of Orcas swim right by (too close)
The rooms are way better than the website pictures and I was pleasantly surprised. They were very clean and all had ocean views. The showers hot water tho is basically non existent so be prepared for that but we are low maintenance so didn’t bother us to much just inconvenient.
I wouldn’t stay here tho unless you plan on renting an ATV or UTV. It’s the only tourist place for about 15-30 min depending on if you go north or south.
We rented a Utv from the Quadman in Los Barriles and they offer free delivery and pick up from the hotel. If you go through the hotel it’s 125 a day or 25 dollars per hour. We loved the little town north of the hotel called el cordanol. It had the best restaurants. Check out the sushi place or the pizza place up there if you can.
Transportation wise: don’t go through the hotel. They charge about 100 more than Viktor tax service. He charged us 300 round trip and was very reliable.
I would have given it 5 out of 5 but I give it a 4 only because the water in the shower was cold 90 percent of the time. We went in Feb so the temps were a little chilly and would have been nice to warm up
The staff was so nice here even when we struggled with the language barrier.
